How do I arrange a baptism/christening?
Baptism (sometimes referred to as Christening) is the service of commitment, where a person makes a solemn promise to follow Christ day by day, and marks the start of a lifelong journey.
It reminds us of God’s amazing commitment to us, shown supremely when Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. It reminds us of God’s call on our lives – to live for him, and not for ourselves.
People of all ages are baptised, including babies and young children. Baptism takes place within regular Sunday worship services, so that the candidate can be welcomed into the church. Generally, we offer baptism to people who live within the parishes or are regular worshippers at one of our churches, but there can be exceptions to this, which you would need to discuss with a member of the clergy. If you would like to know more, please contact the Group Administrator by phone (01275 331061).
